Havana's Cuban Cafe Review - Orlando, Florida - June 10, 2019

Posted by F S on

Today's blog post is about Havana's Cuban Cuisine Cafe, located just off Apopka Vineland Road and Palm Parkway near the 535 entrance of Disney World. This is one of the close off property dining locations.

8544 Palm Parkway, Orlando, FL 32836 - 407-238-5333

Hours Monday Through Saturday 11:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Closed Sunday

This is a small dining room with about 20 tables and a bar that seats 5-6. It's nicely decorated.

The front of the menu is appetizers, salads and entrees.

From this side of the menu we chose the Combination Cuban appetizer plate so that we could try a lot of different flavors. It includes pork bites, cuban tamale, stuffed cassava (also known as yuca), stuffed potato, empanada, croquettes, tostones (fried green plantains), and cassava with mojo.

This was a large plate of food easily to share with more than two people. A lot of this went home with us. I do have to say all in all it's a nice shareable dish if you are looking for a lot of flavors of this region.

For our main course we chose to split the Arroz con Pollo or translated to Chicken and Rice.

This was a nice plate of yellow rice with the chicken deboned and combined with the rice a cup of black beans and fried sweet or ripe plantains.

We did enjoy this very much, it had large chunks of white meat chicken as you can see below. It was a big portion as well.

Hubby had a cuban beer called a Tecate.

The back of the menu is sandwiches, Drinks, Kids meals and desserts.

From this side of the menu we chose the Tres Leches (three milks) cake. This was the first time I've had Tres Leches cake, normally I'm a flan girl. But I thought I'd try something new. Wet cake normally doesn't sound too appetizing to me. But this was pleasantly enjoyable. It had a lot of vanilla notes and the cake was dense enough to hold up to being wet.

If you are looking for Cuban food in the Disney area your choices are few. Havana's is a great location here for Cuban food. Depending on what you are use to though your opinions may vary. Cuban food varies a lot from one restaurant to another and if you've ever eaten Cuban food you will know what I mean.  If you are in the area give them a try.
