Tune-In Lounge Review - Hollywood Studios - Walt Disney World - May 22, 2019
Posted by F S on
Today's post is about the Tune-In Lounge. This is the bar and waiting area of the 50's Prime Time Cafe Restaurant at Hollywood Studios. The Tune-In Lounge shares the same full menu as the 50's Prime Time Cafe. Occasionally we go here if we aren't able to make a reservation for 50's Prime Time Cafe as the bar is first come first served. So if you can find an empty seat you can sit and eat a full meal at the bar.
Once you walk in you are greeted by the age of the 50s in the waiting room.
Many of the items in the waiting room will bring back memories of being at Grandma's house or your aunt and uncles. They've done a great job of decorating in that period.
While I didn't get a photo of the actual bar area, (there were too many people there), I couldn't help from taking this photo of the absolutely perfect placement of these glasses.
The last time we were at this Restaurant was May of 2015, we did eat at 50's Prime Time in January of 2014 and the menu was the same for both trips then. Here are the menus for that timeframe as well as the current menu for comparison. Some of the items that have changed are, Dad's Grilled Pork Chop is now Dad's Stuffed Pork Chop. Cousin Barry's Olive Oil Poached Salmon is replaced with Sustainable Verlasso Salmon. Sissy's Vegetarian Favorite Mulitgrain Spaghetti is gone.
The new menu.
From this side of the new menu we chose Grandpa's Crab Cake. It's a Lump Crab Cake served on a succotash salad with bacon and Chili Sauce. Hubby liked this very much. It wasn't to my taste liking. I think it was the chili sauce having an Asian flavor that threw me off. But Hubby enjoyed it.
We also chose to share the dish A Sampling of Mom's Favorite Recipes. This dish includes a golden fried Chicken breast, Fork Tender Pot roast (they aren't kidding), and Traditional meatloaf with ketchup, and mashed potatoes and gravy and green beans. This entire meal was delicious. We ate every morsel. The Chicken was perfect and crispy, the pot roast was more than fork tender and the meatloaf had that taste that mom made it. The mashed potatoes and gravy were like mom makes and the green beans were perfectly not too soft and not too crunchy.
The back of the menu is the drinks menu for the bar.
For dessert we asked to see the dessert menu. This menu use to be on a Viewmaster and you flipped through the photos of the menu. But now it's a menu card.
One of the things we miss from the old menu was the Dad's Brownie Sundae, this was a sundae that consisted of a big brownie, topped with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, M & M's, Cracker Jack's, Jimmies and a Cherry. It was impressive.
So today we chose the Traditional Warm Apple Crisp À la mode. This reminded me of all of the goodness of the filling of a warm apple pie, with an oat crumble and a giant scoop of vanilla ice cream. What's not to like about that?
The back of the dessert menu has dessert drinks.
We enjoy the food here. It's more than just a bar for sure. So if you are ever in a mood for Mom's home cookin' do yourself a favor and stop here for a spell.
While we were at Hollywood Studios we decided to take some photos of some of the happenings.
Here is a photo of the new tram lanes now that it's all finished an open. It's now a much shorter walk in from the parking lot as well.
The only thing I happened to notice was that there's no cover for the tram queue, so you are standing out in the sun or rain waiting for the trams. So hopefully they intend to add some sort of covering for these queue lines.
There are lots of new security lines in anticipation of the crowds coming later this year to Galaxy's Edge.
We were greeted by the Stormtroopers going down Main Street.
There are a couple of Incredibles themed Photo Op Walls back in Municiberg near Toy Story Land.
And the Incredibles Super Shindig show for the kiddos.
There is lots of Incredibles signage and posters in Municiberg.
And of course the Incredibles store called Municiberg Gifts.
We also stopped by the entrance to what will be Galaxy's Edge to take a photo to share with you all of the artwork showing what will eventually be behind that entrance opening August 31st.
We hope you've enjoyed our blog today. If you'd like to share any of our pages with friends and family please feel free to do so.
