Spoodles
This restaurant is a blast from the past, a memory that deserves to be immortalized. After eating at Disney world for the last 48 years (since opening 1971) I have a lot of memories of Restaurants come and gone. Spoodles is remembered with fond memories. So much so that between 2002 and 2009 we visited this restaurant 5 times. That may not sound like much, but when you have hundreds of restaurants (I need to count them one day, my estimation is over 500) to choose from within 5 miles of your home choosing one that many times means it's one of the top on your list.
Spoodles was located at Disney's Boardwalk between the Ice Cream Shop and the Pizza Window. It eventually became Kat Kora's Kouzzina (another restaurant to be reviewed) and then Trattoria al Forno.
Spoodles opened July 1, 1996 and closed August 1, 2009. I don't have a lot of memories of this restaurant other than it was very open. Which helped get you in the mood for the great food with the aromas wafting out of the open kitchen. You could watch them cook yours and every other meal from anywhere in the dining room. The menus were mostly Mediterranean based foods. Starters included mussels, calamari, and mediterranean dips. Entrees included a wood grilled pork tenderloin that I can still remember the aroma of the wood fire, Chicken, fish, lamb and several pasta dishes. Desserts included crème brûlée, dessert tapas, cheesecake and biscotti.
Here are some of the menus we have for our visits.
Menu November 2002
Menu September 4, 2003 - My favorite menu option by far for many years was the Fettuccini with Prosciutto, Peas and Parmesan Cream Sauce. I can still taste it to this day. By 2007 this item was removed from the menu, and made me very sad. It was replaced by another Fettuccini dish.

None of the cookbooks included my favorite dish so I'm including a recipe that I use when I'm feeling nostalgic for my favorite pasta dish.
Fettuccini Alfredo with Peas and Prosciutto - 4 servings
- 8 ounces Fettuccini noodles, uncooked
- 1/4 cup butter or margarine
- 1 clove chopped garlic or 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1-1/4 cups heavy cream
- 3/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 tsp grated nutmeg (optional)
- 1 cup frozen green peas
- 3 ounces thinly sliced prosciutto (you can substitute deli ham)
Cook pasta according to the package directions. Drain well.
In a large skillet over medium heat, melt butter add garlic and sauté for about one minute until aromatic.
Stir in 3/4 cup of heavy cream and cook over medium heat for 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly until mixture begins to thicken.
Stir in remaining heavy cream and parmesan cheese.
Season with salt, pepper and nutmeg to taste.
Add peas and prosciutto, heat through.
Add drained fettuccini and toss well.
Transfer to a serving plate, top with a sprinkle of parmesan cheese and serve.
